Start with nationality
Your nationality appears in official Visa on Arrival guidance for tourism and other permitted purposes. Approval remains discretionary, so obtaining a visa before travel is safer.

Follow these steps in order. A ticket or hotel booking is not an entry guarantee.
Confirm nationality, travel purpose and whether you may use a Bangladesh passport, dual-national status, NVR, a prior visa, Visa on Arrival, or a diplomatic/official arrangement.
Use the mission serving the country or consular jurisdiction where you legally reside. If there is no mission in your country, identify the Bangladesh mission accredited to it and ask whether it accepts non-resident, postal, courier, or online-supported submissions.

Submit the official English-language application at visa.gov.bd. Save the application ID, then print and sign the completed form.

When your passport is returned, check your name, passport number, entries, validity and permitted stay before booking final travel.

No embassy in my country
Find which Bangladesh embassy, high commission, or consulate covers your country or legal place of residence.
Ask whether it accepts applicants who live outside the mission’s country and whether submission is in person, by post, or by courier.
Request written confirmation of the correct forms, fees, payment method, return-postage rules, and expected processing time.
The absence of a local mission does not itself make a traveler eligible for Visa on Arrival. Use VOA only if official guidance covers the traveler and immigration approves it.
Visa on arrival
Official guidance includes the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Brunei and European countries for eligible purposes, subject to immigration approval.
No Visa Required
Citizenship and family background do not automatically place an endorsement in a foreign passport. Confirm the correct document route before travel.
A dual citizen may travel on a valid Bangladesh passport. When traveling on a foreign passport, eligible Bangladesh-origin foreign citizens may instead apply for an NVR endorsement; the mission decides which documents prove eligibility.
A foreign-born child of a Bangladeshi-origin parent may be eligible for NVR. Missions commonly request the child’s birth certificate plus a parent’s Bangladesh passport, NID, birth record, or dual-nationality evidence.
Eligible foreign spouses and children—and, under some mission guidance, second- or third-generation descendants—may qualify. Rules and evidence vary by jurisdiction.
An approved NVR generally permits multiple entries and unrestricted stay while the endorsed foreign passport remains valid. Obtain or transfer the endorsement before relying on it.
Official mission guidance generally excludes citizens of SAARC countries from this Bangladesh-origin NVR route. Ask the responsible mission which visa or passport option applies.
